Penryn, California artist Sandy Delehanty has been exhibiting in galleries since the early 1990's and has had 23 solo shows, 4 two person shows, and many more group shows. Her paintings are in private collections in the US, France, Italy and South Africa and in corporate collections including 45 paintings in the University of California Davis Medical Center.
An Art Major at California State University at Chico, Sandy earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree and a California Secondary Teaching Credential. She has studied with top painting and drawing teachers including Wayne Thiebaud, Mel Ramos, Robert E Woods AWS, Frank Webb AWS, Betty Lynch AWS, Don Andrews AWS, Judy Morris AWS, Gregory Kondos and Brian Davis.
Sandy was awarded Signature Status by the California Watercolor Association in 2011, and is proud to add CWA to her name when signing her paintings. Her paintings have won numerous awards including the Gold Award in this year's Northern California Arts "Bold Expressions" 58th International Exhibition.
Paintings by Sandy have been accepted into international open juried competitions including the California Watercolor Association International Open Exhibitions in 2000, 2007, 2011 and 2012, The Richeson 75 Small Works International Open, Northern California Arts "Bold Expressions" International Open (nine years), and the San Diego Watercolor Society International Open Show. She has also had work accepted in the California State Fair, the Triton Museum of Art Biennial Watercolor Competition, the Mother Lode National Open Show, and over 40 juried exhibitions in Northern California winning 26 awards.
Sandy has donated a painting to the KVIE Art Auction every year since it began and all have sold to help support the station. She has also been invited to donate paintings to the Crocker Art Auctions for several years.
Paintings by Sandy were selected for publishing in international competitions in the following publications: 2014 Splash 16 published by North Light Books, 2011 Richeson 75 Small Works International, 2010 International Artists Magazine Top 10 Floral Paintings, 2006 Splash 9, North Light Books and in 1999 The Best of Flower Painting 2, also a North Light Books publication.
As a Watercolor Workshop Instructor Sandy has taught for organizations in California, Hawaii, Bali, France, Italy, Belgium and Spain.
