Penryn California artist Sandy Delehanty has been exhibiting in galleries since the early 1990's and has had 24 solo shows, six two person shows, and many more group shows. An American Women Artists Association “Artist of Distinction” her watercolor was accepted and awarded an Award of Excellence in the AWA National competition in 2016. She also earned “CWA Signature Status” in the California Watercolor Association. Another of Sandy’s recent watercolors was awarded “Best of Show” in the13th Annual Animal House International Juried Exhibition at the Sacramento Fine Art Center 2018.
“Notre Dame” a watercolor by Sandy was accepted into the American Watercolor Society 151st International Juried Competition 2018 (the world’s most competitive international watercolor competition). Her painting was also selected to travel the nation with the AWS Traveling Exhibition. Sandy’s painting “Majestic” was juried into the exhibition Yosemite Renaissance 33, a prestigious show held annually at the Yosemite Museum Gallery spring of 2018. The American Women Artists Association selected “The Little Black Dress” by Sandy as one 40 paintings exhibited in the Haggin Museum, 2018. Her watercolor “Resiliency” hung in the Annual Juried Exhibition at Gallery Route One in Point Reyes, California and “Chichicastenango Vendor” was accepted in the Magnum Opus XXIX International Juried Exhibition at the Sacramento Fine Art Center 2018. In addition to these 2018 exhibitions she has been accepted into 45 national and international open juried competitions and won numerous awards. Her paintings have been exhibited in The California State Fair, the Triton Museum and the Crocker Art Museum’s Invitational Art Auction and has been juried into the KVIE Art Auction annually for 30 years.
An Art Major at California State University at Chico, Sandy earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree and a California Secondary Teaching Credential. She has studied with top painting and drawing teachers including Wayne Thiebaud, Mel Ramos, Robert E Woods AWS, Frank Webb AWS, Betty Lynch AWS, Don Andrews AWS, Judy Morris AWS, Gregory Kondos and Michael Reardon.
As a Watercolor Workshop Instructor Sandy has taught for organizations in France, Italy, Belgium, Greece, Spain, Bali, California and Hawaii.
